About the Book

An air of discontent is befalling our country.

tqltree_vectoredVenomous political partisanship and “politics as usual” have given way to Presidential and Congressional approval ratings falling to historic lows. Meanwhile, a massive financial crisis and economic recession have cast an overwhelming shadow of doubt upon our elected politicians and their collective ability to lead.

Truly, America appears to be on the verge of a very real and mounting public backlash against today’s political and economic leaders.

The greater public’s mindset is a gathering storm—a reflection of one overwhelming mindset. This storm is an aggregate reaction to the presumed plight of modern American leadership amid a historic economic recession and increasingly partisan political division. This mindset threatens to irreversibly damage an already-convoluted societal perception of what it means to be a leader.

In lieu of this gathering storm comes THE QUIET LEADER.

THE QUIET LEADER is an intimate examination of our societal definitions of leadership and offers millions of disenfranchised Americans a radically new and refreshing philosophy based in selflessness, giving and inherent optimism that the reader employs with the intent of subtly influence others to undertake similar behavior. Those who are routinely touched by a quiet leader’s positive presence are—consciously or otherwise—influenced to emulate that persistently selfless and optimistic example. They, in essence, become “followers.”

THE QUIET LEADER breaks conventional notions of what it means to be a leader and sets forth a radical and personal philosophy that enables anyone to become a quiet force of positive change and an influential leader in any walk of life.

The book begins by addressing a current sociopolitical hot-topic: the public’s apparently  overwhelming discontent with modern American politics, and asks readers to question whether there is truly a “leadership problem” today, or if this is an widespread misconception (if it is even a question, there is indeed a problem!).

Because our general understanding of what it means to be a leader has become so grossly distorted, readers will step back to reclaim their understanding of what it really means to be a leader. THE QUIET LEADER lays out a comprehensive plan by which the reader employs a unique and personal philosophy of discovering one’s thankfulness, understanding forms and ways of giving, and fostering a spirit of selfless compassion in everyday life that helps the reader becomes a “quiet leader.”

The book is unique in that its blend of Motivational and Self-Help genres are rarely so explicitly applied to the notion of real leadership. Think of it as Eckhart Tolle meets John C. Maxwell.

I’ve had years of experience with “conventional” leaders, spanning a variety of fields including the military, student government, collegiate journalism, and a slew of state and federal political offices.

Throughout these experiences, I’ve grown concerned to see more and more Americans becoming increasingly disillusioned to traditional leaders—and to “leadership” in general.

Our societal assumption is that effective, influential leadership requires money, status and power. Because of the state of the economy and the highly partisan nature of modern American politics, more and more are becoming disenfranchised to leadership because of our elected leaders’ (actual or assumed) failures. The consequence is that our societal understanding of “leadership” is becoming even further convoluted.

So many Americans are becoming disenfranchised to our traditional leaders. They need a resource that speaks to them about how to be an unconventional leader in everyday life, in order to help reclaim their collective understanding of what it means to be a leader.

THE QUIET LEADER is perhaps needed now more than ever, before our understanding of leadership becomes even further lost.
